The Broken Plow is a small farm and self-service farm stand on Eagle Road in Bend, Oregon. We grow seasonal produce and flowers, raise dairy goats and poultry, and carry food and goods from a small group of other local growers and makers.
We're not trying to make the farm a tourist destination. We want to make fresh, delicious local food something families can realistically work into everyday life.
The farm is 1.7 acres in all. Our market garden occupies about a quarter acre, which we use intensively throughout Central Oregon's short growing season. Another acre of diverse pasture supports our Nigerian Dwarf goats, laying hens, and seasonal meat birds.
In the garden, we grow familiar staples alongside less common crops and varieties chosen for flavor, usefulness, and how well they perform here. What you'll find in the stand changes throughout the year as different crops come into season.
What to Expect Through the Seasons →
Much of our produce travels less than a hundred feet from where it grows to where you buy it.
That lets us harvest for eating quality rather than shipping and storage. The stand reflects what the farm has available, with produce coming and going as crops reach their best.

Our stand is self-service, which allows us to keep it open long hours without adding the cost of staffing a retail shop. We keep packaging and other retail extras simple too.
We'd rather put the value in the food while making good local food available to people who can't necessarily plan their week around a farmers market.

We can't grow everything, and we aren't the only people around here producing good things.
We carry a changing selection from other Central Oregon growers and makers, giving small producers another place to sell directly to local customers. We identify who produced what and are selective about what we put in the stand.
